I just looked this up online:
Important notice to owners of personal use motor home (recreational vehicles): Recently the Air Resources Board sent letters to heavy-duty diesel vehicle owners regarding regulatory deadlines pertaining to emission controls and clean fleets. This letter was sent to personal use motor home owners in error. Motorhomes are exempt from these requirements. You do not need to install soot filters (DPF) or report. If you would like additional information, the regulatory language is outlined below.

Chapter 1: Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Devices

Section 2025. Regulation to Reduce Emissions of Diesel Particulate Matter, Oxides of Nitrogen and Other Criteria Pollutants, from In-Use Heavy-Duty Diesel-Fueled Vehicles.


(c) Exemptions
This regulation does not apply to:
(1) to (9)
(10) Motor homes for non-commercial private use;


(d) Definitions
For purposes of this regulation, the following definitions apply:
(1) to (42)
(43) "Motor Home" means a single vehicular unit designed for human habitation for
recreational or emergency occupancy and built on, or permanently attached to, a
self-propelled motor vehicle chassis, chassis cab, or van, which becomes an
integral part of the complete vehicle or a vehicle that exclusively tows a trailer that
was originally designed for human habitation for recreational or emergency
occupancy.

If the above isn't enough, I work with Los Angeles Freightliner and we have specialists working with the AQMD and CARB for grant money. Also for abiding to the strict regulations. The fact of the matter is that private owned vehicles that are now registered as an RV, or motorhome (MH) are exempt from commercial truck and bus smog laws-PERIOD! Good Luck, TomC

In California, by the year 2023, all commercial Diesel trucks over 14,000lbs gvw must have the DEF system, whether the truck/bus is in the state, or just coming in from another state. Any truck/bus with just a DPF will not be allowed.

And once again-RV's, Motorhomes are exempt from these laws. Good Luck, TomC

 I knew motorhomes were exempt; the thing that caught my eye was that they will be forbidden to work on them or sell parts after 2016?

Strange laws in CA they have it where you can only own 1 non compliance CARB engine,they enforce it heavy on tier rated engines you can bet they will rid CA of the 2 strokes some way it's just a matter of time
