What is the 115v plug and panel under drivers seat?

Is this so that the coach can be plugged in while in the depot? I have a female 115v plug and it comes out of a little panel labeled 115v. Another wire comes out of the panel too that appears to be cut. I think it was some sort of 115v plug too. This is under the drivers seat panel where the washer fluid tank and air horns are. Can someone explain this? What did it provide 115v to? The interior lights?

It is for charging the smart phone so the driver can keep on texting.

   Hi;
       Boomer is right.  My MC-7 had a whole row of 115v lights down the
       middle of the coach interior.

    Unfortunately, now a days, in far too many vehicles the phone is the smartest thing near the steering wheel.  :(

Bruce, I wish you are wrong, but you are not. Six months ago where I live we had two school buses collide killing two kids and a teacher's aide. It was determined the bus driver that swerved into the oncoming bus was texting a prostitute when the accident happened. He died of natural causes prior to the report coming out so he was not prosecuted.

I am advocating all cell phones get disabled if they are moving faster than walking speed. That will cause a lot of screaming and shouting, but the morons who are driving cannot leave them alone.

i'm not old enough (not quite) to remember, and I doubt that any of you all are either, but did we have such a problem when they first made radios for cars?  Just curious.

Ted.

Yes, Ted we did.  My dad would not have a radio in his cars.  He called them; "Attention Diverters".

Keep on Busin or Truckin.

That comes back the the age old problem of, you can't legislate common sense. Move government control won't help a bit. But I do know what you are saying.

The protests if they tried to disable all functionality of phones above walking speed would probably make the recent race riots and protests seem like small potatoes.

What is wrong with passengers in any form of transportation using cell phones?  Many people ride buses or trains to work and use smartphones along the way.  This would stop all that.  I rarely text period, and would never do so when driving.  I know there are many who can't resist texting or emailing while driving.  Many mobile salespeople spend much of their time in the car on the phone.  (Not that being on the phone all the time while driving is a good thing, but they would protest none the less.)

I seem to remember that when rear view mirrors were first introduced it was claimed they were a distraction also.  I could be wrong though.
