Best way to store DD cylinder kits

Two questions:
1. Is this small amount of very surface corrosion a serious issue or fixable before I store my 6v92 rebuilt kit?

2. The original boxes for this kit are completely trashed. Anyone know of a source for replacement boxes? Would DD sell me a set of empty boxes? Cliff mentioned I should store them upright but I need them in boxes. If the corrosion isn't serious enough to worry about, I'll just grease/oil everything and store them upright but need advice on replacement boxes (the ring kits are in the plastic shrink wrapped with the foam box insert).

If it is just light surface rust take a scotch bright pad a lightly clean it up, follow the hatch pattern on the inside, get some  cosmoline grease and wax paper and wrap them up. Go get your self a Rubbermaid tote with a lid and stand them up and cut card board to make dividers  throw in some Disposable Desiccant Bags (McMaster-carr) put the lid on and store them in a climate controlled area. should be good to go for a long time

Scott, the seal part that is the shinny part above the ports is what you want to protect from rust because that is the part that seals the water on those liners.

Wipe the liners down inside and out with Marvel Mystery Oil or a good fogging oil, wrap in a good plastic stretch wrap stand on end and worry about the little rust inside later a hone will remove it in a hurry.

They look in bad shape so send all 6 to me and I will pay the shipping only because I like you  ;D

Scott, agree with the above on oiling them up and sealing in a bag of sorts. It might surprise ya just the cleanup with rags and oil how they look, and then wrapped with oil dampened rags.
I recall many cylinders loaded, were shipped around the world to me encased in a 1x6 or 8 box with metal banding. tough but secure

Your sleeves look fine.  To me it appears to be just a slight amount of surface rust.  I for one would not even bother buffing it out.  The rings will take care of it.  Enjoy.  Yep ... some sort of water proof packaging is a good idea.  HB

Great info. You gents answered my questions...I'll get on this as we are driving the bus home in two weeks from Dallas to Michigan. I wanted to be sure when we park the coach in Michigan, I'll be storing the kit properly. Thanks again. Cliff, see, that arrangement would have worked if you hadn't already told me how lucky I was to have a rebuild kit from DD :) lol.
