Putting fantastic fans in my escape hatch holes

Hey all,

I'm putting two fantastic fans in the escape hatch holes and I'm thinking about using 1/2" plexi and building a nice hatch cover and mounting the fan directly to the plexiglass. I think having the overhead light there would be nice. So, do any of you know what kind of glue they use to stick acrylic together at the high end acrylic shops? That stuff is super strong and I'm gonna need this to hold up a fan on a bumpy road.

Everyone, please steer clear of the logic of removing the escape hatches discussion. I realize that a lot of folks wouldn't get rid of theirs but mine are already completely removed so any lectures about the safety issues aren't necessary or wanted. Just trying to avoid a safety flamefest.

u will need to call them to see what replaced this
the plastic will brake before the joint.  This is what the local plastic fabricator used 
I would recommend lexan (Polycarbonate) it will not crack
you would have to ask ips about the glue you wood need
we bend and machine lexan all the time it way better to work with than acrylic, but is more $. We do not use acrylic at all any more.

What? You removed your escape hatches? How do you intend to escape?

I believe plexiglass  is a generic term and it is usually is acrylic

After a night of beans I may regret taking those escape hatches out.

Rick, why not use aluminum or stainless steel? with no wieght  but fan, you could use thin gauge sheets, lvmci...

Really like the light that pours through there when you take it out.

I may not do it but it sure lightens the room up.

Devin dropped 2 Taylor marine hatches in where he removed the factory hatches on his MCI neat setup with the screens water tight plus plenty of light and air movement

You probably know this, but just in case. Lexan and plexiglass are not the same thing.
