So, just saw this on the feed. Wondering what would be inside that bus to cause an explosion like this??

This is a link with no commercials...

Looks like the smoke caught on fire and the sudden expansion of the hot air caused the "explosion".

You can see the flame start at the back of the bus and move forward.

That was a good amount of force to literally blow the windows out and off of the coach. I can't imagine what would have been on board that was that volatile.

Plastics and the like, heated up and then the vapours caught.

I expect the driver did the right thing and cosed the door once the people were out, in order to slow the fire's progress, giving the fire department more time to get there and recover something of valuem

Windows held in by rubber seals don't take much pop to give way.

Pretty typical textbook fire.

Happy coaching!

Could have been either a big flash over or a small back draft.  Since the doors were open with folks bailing out, probably a big flash over or caused by something cooking off inside. Usually such things are not in the passengers compartment.  Curious.  HB of CJ (old coot) ex FF

But what caused the fire in the first place?   Engine? brakes? electrical? passenger? luggage below?

Do modern buses like that have automatic fire suppression systems or fire detectors in critical areas?

Cooking illegal drugs while inside the coach?  More crazy things have happened.  Be amazed what stuff can be brought inside a bus by the passengers.  HB

Ok, thank you. I didn't see it the first time. I feel dumb

Newest buses have fire suppression systems in the engine area, but not in the wheel wells.

Flashover with a back draft. Fire had used all available oxygen, and had super heated everything inside that is combustible. Something vented giving the fire a good gulp of air and boom!
