Question on Hot Water Heat, Proheat, Webasto ?

I am going to use the Proheat X45 for my hydronic heat and to loop through my hot water heater. What hot water units are you using for your heating of your coach, Sure Marine, Red Dot, base board ?

Suburban Propane heat-$800 complete. 2-10gal elec water heaters $520 total. Can't get any cheaper. Plus no maintenance. Sorry-can't get off my soap box. Good Luck, TomC

this is what I did

from the pro heat to a heat ex-changer with 2 manual valves to close off the engine pre heat if not on the road .

floor heat 1/2 pex . 4 zones with a separate pro heat water pump + 1 fan forced kick space heater 33 k btu with high , low fan or no fan on 2 t stats .

a small 2 gal . elect water heater for when it's not to cold to heat the zones or fire up the pro heat if it is

as for domestic hot water I use a r/v 10 gal gas with a hot shot elect . add on plus just added a separate 2 gal. elect water heater from lowes in series if more hot water is needed . the nice part is it does not take vary long to heat the water

when on the road the engine heat goes through the heat ex-changer to heat the floor

After my AquaHot started acting up this past weekend,  after about 15 hours since yearly service, thinking about going the Tom route. When electrics quit inside unit, I'm done.  Don't know what I will do with all the copper piping and 3 station pumps.

I have a pro heat 45000 that came with the bus when I got it in 2005 and have  done nothing to it at all . now that I have said that it will probably crap out . yes to loud when I use it to heat the floor when camped ( most times I use the 2 gal. elect w/h to heat the floor )  but it sure is nice for preheat on the old 6v92ta and use the eng. heat when on the road through the floor loops .

I have 1/2" pex in floor two loops.  Four Sure Marine toe-kick units; bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room. My potable hot water is from a Suburban 16 gal three way plumbed into the electric boiler, engine heat exchanger loop. Then there is a Webasto boiler looped with the electric boiler so I have heat when I'm not on a pole or running the main engine.

I have an Espar Hydronic 10 with 4 loops,heat exchanger to engine and heat exchanger to domestic hot water. One loop goes to original heater and a couple of heat exchangers in the front. One loop each living/kitchen area, bathroom and bedroom. Each room also has a heat exchanger with blower. For the in floor I used 1/2 pex into 2 inch styrofoam  with grooves routed into it then layed floor over that. I just got the whole thing finished this week, works great.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but it is on-topic: Does anyone know of or use a 1" circulator that I can use in place of the factory heat pump which is 200+ dollars from the dealer? I don't think its anything special - just a 12V inlet/outlet pump to help (pull?) the coolant through the box heaters and (push?) it ito the engine.  I can hear mine spinning but my heaters have stopped getting hot - now just lukewarm.

Before you get too many tools out, is the system air locked?

Do you have facility in the plumbing for collecting and purging air?

Heat exchangers fed from below are notorious for air locks.

Well, I suspected that but all I could think to do was run the bus for a while and keep dumping in coolant without the cover on the radiator overflow resevoir. Anyone have tips for removing the air??

Sorry for the delay in responding. I've had some major changes and such going on lately Not Bruce Jenner type changes  - more like work and life/living situation and working on Bus stuff.

Check your radiators for bleed screws.  As Ewen indicated, if one rad is air locked it will constipate the whole system.

Well, I could use those pumps. My engine preheat pump quite working this winter.
