This also could be a fun project ... what new shoes would fit your new baby.  Lots of different modern choices.  How about deciding upon a wheel diameter and bolt pattern and type that would give you about the same laden diameter as the stock tires?

You also want a modern wheel choice that will match the same off set you have now.  Clearing the drums with adequate air space also comes to mind.  As far as the final wheel and tire size, that probably will remain to be seen.  Are you planning on tire chains?

Or do you need to up the tire diameter to reduce the cruising rpm?  What about clearance with maximum tire bounce and suspension movement?  Front wheel cut?  Also consider tire replacement or purchase costs?  Some odd ball size may not work.  HB of CJ (old coot)

FWIW; I barely turned down a nice set of ten (10) used take off wheels and 80% tires.  11Rx24.5 Michelins with proper sized offset Alcoha pilot wheels.  The tractor truck did not need them any more.  HD truck wrecking yard.  The tires were close to 5 years old.

HB of CJ, the set of wheels and tires you mentioned, do you know the location? Thanks

This was in 2001.  Just 3-4 months after 9-11.  The location was on South Union Ave. in Bakersfield California.  It was a heavy truck wrecking yard.  Perhaps somebody who lives there can give us/you an address and phone number.  These were take offs.  If memory serves, the ASKING price was $4000 CASH (no receipt) for everything, plus inspecting for collision damage both wheels and tires, a carcass inspection for side wall damage ...

(Both the wheels and tires looked in very good shape.  The steering tires had a slightly different thread if memory serves.  I do remember 6560 single, 6060 duel? No caps)

... And tread skid flat spots, buffing and inspecting the wheels, a complete spin balance, extended studs for my Crown Supercoach 10 wheeler 3 axle 40 foot ex schoolie and the existing lug nuts with chrome acorn caps, plus all labour and installation.  Quite a deal at that time?  He said it would take 2 people about 4 hours to do.  I turned it down because I did not have that much cash and the Michelins were just a little bit too old.  HB
