DDEC 1 - Tell me what I should know

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at an 88 Eagle as a possible step up from our 4106. It has an 8v92 with DDEC 1. Should I be wary of the first gen electronic engine? What about parts for the DDEC system, can they still be found? Let's have it good and bad.

Ok thanks, sounds like many of the other DDEC gremlins that I have read about. BUT the crux seems to be that the ECM may be made of unobtainium. Anyone here try to source a DDEC 1 ECM lately?

ECM's are not "UNOBTAINABLE" !

I know their are several places to get them. I personally know a guy in Orlando that rebuilds and resells them on an exchange basis so he'll have another to rebuild an sell!
Also a place in MN or somewhere that has or repairs them.
