Was working fine. On way to town last night, pressure below 90psi and dropping. -18C,0F outside. On fast idle, was rising very slowly. At 125 psi cutout, dryer purges normally. No leaks. All air systems like brakes working as they should. I am thinking bad compressor. Will check intake filter and discharge line after coffee. -24 C this morning!

Removed ping tank. Solid ice in it. Compressor is fine. Still slow airing up. Must be ice in line to dryer. That is from shop air 3 days ago while fixing brake chamber. Taking it to neighbour's warm shop to thaw, and visit.

I had a similar experience a few years back. The system froze up after the AD-9 dryer while we were travelling through a bad snowstorm. We got thawed out overnite in a large auto-ag shop in Herried, SD , and I added some alcohol to the system while there. If I recall correctly, I added a bit of alcohol to MY system that nite too!  ;)

I replaced the dryer cartridge when we reached our destination, and added an alcohol sniffer kit after the dryer
( kind of like belt AND suspenders ).

No problems whatsoever since then.

Good luck, JC!

All fixed !  Had the bus in warm shop for 3 hours or so. Then disconnected supply line at dryer, and blew shop air from Schrader valve at ping tank. Got 4 or 6 ounces of water and a couple
of ice chunks out of it.

Note to self, and other bus nuts: drain all tanks after putting shop air in bus system, and before taking bus out in cold weather.

Headed out in morning toward Quartzsite.

Just isn't worth running in sub freezing weather. Too many things to go wrong.

Sez the guy from SoCal.   ;D

I've seen frost in August and in May.  Refusing to run in sub freezing weather would seriously restrict our mobility.
