My question is what generating capacity is this setup likely to handle? There is no rating plate that I can see on the generator. I assume a 13hp diesel should run a 7.5kW generator and a couple of 13,000 BTU roof units.

In my wanderings the other day I came across this interesting setup. Obviously a generator belted up to a Kubota Z482. The specifications for this motor are 13.3hp 9.9kW and 3600 rpm. It also has what appears to be an automotive Air Conditioning compressor. It supposedly came from Onan several years ago. Wondering if it is maybe a predecessor to the truck mounted APUs commonly installed on OTR trucks today. The guy wants to get rid of it and I'm thinking it might be reasonable replacement for the Kohler gas powered  7k I have today. It has 100 hours on the engine.

It could be 7.5 kw running at 3600 rpm, would be noisey but good on fuel burn.  Onan didbuild a few APU units that included the a/c compressor. Recall they were connected into the truck cooling system.
If your creative, you might have a winner, problem could be support from Onan/Cummins without the model, spec & serial number.

Just by looking at the pulleys and the fact that the engine does not go above 3,600rpm, I would say that alternator is an 1,800rpm with a smaller pulley on the engine possibly running at 2-2,200rpm. Would be a good set up. Was similar to my setup in my truck with belt driving the A/C compressor-made for much more btu's than electric. Good Luck, TomC

TomC,
Your about right on the RPM, I seem to recall could been about 2600, I  forget, but if I dug thru some of the old sales manuals, might come up with the sheet on it, will look.

It looks like it is fairly compact.  That would make it easier for you to mount.

Well I looked thru some of my folders, not able to find the cut sheets, so found this info on line.

Well that probably won't work very well for me based on those specs. 4000 watts only runs one roof AC. I didn't plan on hooking up the compressor. And I would need to find a remote radiator for engine cooling too. It's a nice little package and cheap enough but probably won't meet my needs.
