New to this site, but not to buses. My wife and 
I have been involved with school bus /transit operations and driving for about 27 years.
We live in the Phelan/Cajon Pass area. Currently we own 2 busses; 1 is a 1964 White/Carpenter 35'
school bus. It is the Husky Camp husky rescue bus. Pulled the seats and added dog crates. Bus
2 is a 1957 PD 4104 totally converted.

 I'm sorry to admit I lived in SOCAL for 29 years and went up and down Cajon pass a jillion times,, always better to go up than down. One way OUT of the soup and the other INTO the soup.>>>Dan

Welcome aboard!  I too am in Phelan, approx 4 miles NE of "downtown", with two buses anxiously awaiting warmer weather.  I am currently working on the formal announcement/invitation for the "Buses Gone Wild IV" gathering, May 26-28, 2012, here at the "Hacienda". Perhaps we should get together and compare notes before then.

Excellent . . . a stone's throw away. I've recorded your email, and let us get in touch. Heck, I think the 10-speed needs some exercise (and some frighteningly expensive diesel) this weekend, or perhaps yours needs stretch its legs :).

Hi RJ,

Both are midship turbos; the Crown is a DD671 10-speed (non-overdrive), and the Gillig is a Cummins 855 with an Allison.

have 1960 4104,4614 seems it was bought by  V c trailways.
lyn coach works,built the inside. still going fine.
aso have 1957 4104,parts bus.
the 1960 came with hydro shift. would like to find a good hydro shift.

A get together in So Cal would be nice. I have gone to Paul's buses gone wild 3 years now. Its a small get together down the street from us, with 6 or 7 buses.

Been to a couple of bus & RV Rally's with our car. Not as much fun with out a bus to show off.

  Good luck finding a Hydrashift or parts. They are scarcer that a non rusty older Eagle. They are great when working though.

Jack start your own NRG! They usually start small but if you continue to have them, it will grow as more people in your area hear about your gatherings.
The NRG's were started when I personally sat in on a worthless club meeting for what felt like hours. Then shortly after I saw all the club members just sitting around in chairs doing nothing which was the highlight of the weekend. I thought to myself, these people have no energy, hence the name NRG which became to stand for Non Rally Gathering meaning come as you want, do as you please, eat what, when, and where you want and no boring meetings to waste the weekend away!
Down here in Florida we try to gather at least once a month, sometimes twice but that's rare. We all do things together and it's almost never boring! Holiday gatherings are the best since more people join in but one or two is all it takes to get it off the ground.
Ours is based in central Florida and Van started to hold one in or near Vegas.
Like I said, do it your way but keep it fun! You don't need an open field. Just plan to stay at a nearby rv park and spread the word! Remember, if you build it, they will come! :)
