Ok folks just curious, has anyone replaced the DD3 park brake diaphragms on an MCI MC8 without removing the cans or tires? Thanks again Luke for your great fast service! :o

I replaced the diaphragms in one of mine last winter and though it can be done in place I would highly recommend removing the can anyway. they're not that difficult to remove and if you have much cleanup to do it will be much easier off the vehicle. you are going to need to put air to the lock port to assemble /disassemble.  The manual tells you how to do it and it tells you how to properly test the can. Oh yeah, you can remove the cans without removing the wheels too.

When I did my rear cans I took the wheels off.  I had seized clevis pins that I had to grind the head off of and drift out.  My cans were in the locked park position and I couldn't air up the bus to release them so I removed them by undoing the bolts to allow movement to release the slack adjusters.  I found on close inspection that I needed to replace every hose in the rear brake system - some where kinda OK, some were trashed, but I just did them all.  I also had to replace the inversion valve - it was still operable but it literally broke in half when I was removing the hoses from it, a hose boss broke off.  My old brake cans were still fully operational, but they were so corroded that I couldn't rebuild them so I bought new, and very happy I did - one thing off the worry list.

Don't forget to chock the wheels! Just a reminder-- you wouldn't forget  ;)

Yep! will chock & block. Hope full that it is a diaphragm & not the r8 valve.
