I'm wondering if the real owner (rich or not) knew that the guy with the truck in his shop was trying to sell it.

On consignment of some sort I bet, maybe the owners asked him to get it ready and sell it for them. Some people would rather have another party sell things like this for them, don't like dealing with all the tire kickers.

But regardless it isn't the only nice one out there Ace, you will find another. I think you did right thing under the circumstances .

Hey Ace, I'm in St. Louis and could check out the guys threw some friends, and find out his story. What is the name of his shop? I could even go by there and act like a customer and see if the truck is still there. Where did you see it listed?  All my titles say signature of all sellers on back. You have to watch us folks in Missouri, were all shiters   ;D

I sent him a pretty long text last night explaining the way I felt about,
1, butting heads with him
2, not going thru with the deal
3, doubting the title and signatures
4, just a plain heartfelt man to man apology for everything
I thought I may have started while we were texting and things I may have said in a childish manner which caused hard feelings on BOTH sides and guess what...

NO REPLY!

It's all good! I appreciate everyone's help and support but if it's meant to be or not, it will!

JUST got thru after many attempts to the ACTUAL owner and low and behold, everything was legit! Everything I was told was the truth all the way down to the signatures including the little mark the lady made!
The truck HAS been sold and the actual owner is awaiting the guy I dealt with to send him the money!
It's over and I can close THIS chapter.
I feel stupid for not trusting him but who knew since he wasn't being very cooperative or open with info and I'm thinking now that he may have had a buyer waiting in the background maybe for more money that's why he didn't care if I bought it or not!
Next....

I'm sure you all were thinking the deal was too good to be true, and that would make anyone a little gun shy - go find another one

Yea I know Nick but it keeps haunting me that I made the choice to leave it, it then gets sold the same day, and then there wasn't anything wrong with the deal to begin with! I had the chance to acquire it at more than half of what it was worth! Surely a deal in a lifetime but your right, after sitting for so long, ANYTHING could have happened that would have cost me more than it's worth!
Still looking...

Sorry you missed that deal Ace that was a nice conversion on a nice truck.with the new ECM and injectors the N14 would have severed you well for years. We all dance to different music me I would have rolled the dice on it

Yea Clifford I feel bad but life goes on! If it was meant to be then so be it. I keep saying there will be another one but not so sure, at least one affordable! I may even try the original truck seller and see what's up with that one. It was a lot cheaper, more miles and unfinished not to mention not as clean but what else are projects for?

Still say there was something fishy going on there. That title said the guy you talked to had bought it, yet you had to confirm with the "owner". Sorry, but no state is going to process that
title with his name on it as the buyer. It will have to go back to Oregon to be re-issued. And why did he tell you initially that he was the owner?

No, it still doesn't add up.

I agree and not that it matters, but he also came down awfully fast on the price. He was trying to dump it for some unknown reason. Or he was offered a commission and got tired of waiting and just came down fast until he was out of commission to be paid.

I know none of it adds up but after talking to the person that's name is on the front, he told me the whole story from when he bought it and has another one built and left that one there to be sold! It say for years because Hawk pushed his OWN builds first! He got tired or sending money to Mo. Every year for batteries and such to keep it up so he told Hawk to basically give it away at a give away price which he did! Had I known this info before doubting anyone or even the title, I would have rolled the dice and brought it home! Hawk wasn't offering ANY history other than it sat for years. How many is still another question!
The owner told me Hawk called with my offer that night and about replacing all 10 tires and he agreed to split the cost of the tires with Hawk. Still don't know what the tie is but my chapter on THIS truck is closed! Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I hate to lose and now there's nothing I can do about it but congratulate the winner whoever that might be.
