Current bus weight

Sean (seangie) and I are planning on drag racing each other...Eagle vs MCI. I'm guessing with my coach power issue fixed, and cooling system finally working properly, I'll win. My current weight with a full 100 gallon fresh tank and full tank (topped off) of fuel (180 gallons):

How much on each corner if you have 4 and how much each on each end if you have 6? Ideally you should be within about 1-2 ounces from being exactly even or proportional ... give or take who is on board and where and how all the beer was secured. One can never carry enough beer.

A silly example would be if you have a two axle Bus Conversion and the typical 12K front end and the typical nominal 20K rear end, then you might have about 35%+- on the front and about 65%+- on the rear ... there abouts kinda maybe. Ideally each side would also be very close.

For the 0-20mph portion of the drag race, please have one of your wives bicycle alongside the buses -- my bet is on her!!

Lol. This is true. I never said the race would be epic...as for weight balance, well....my wife has taken up jogging and managed to misplace 31 pounds somewhere along the way. She's of no use for weight balancing. That's for sure

With that kind of weight, you could eliminate the tag axle.

Just for the curiosity of comparison, I have the 102A3. Also with 100gal full water and full fuel tank. Not sure how our conversions compare, but probably not terribly different. They weighed to drive and tag axle as one.

Dave, are you 45 feet? Your coach of course is 6 inches wider. Also, our conversion is light mainly because we removed all the windows, all the metal interior panels with carpet glued to them, no otr heat or a/c all condensers and radiators thereof removed. We stripped the coach down to bare frame and rebuilt from there on up. My side panels are aluminum...

I've considered eliminating the tag btw, but the bus drives better with them. Besides, it's nice to carry around two spare tires just in case

Im only 40'. I eliminated the bus air/heat and removed windows and put aluminum on the exterior. I added a lot of wood inside.
Mine is only 1200 more....that doesn't seem like a lot.
I have a gas generator, a good batch of tools.....oh, and a piano.

It's that piano. I have two toolboxes a generator, 30 gallon kenmore hot water heater, 26 cubic foot Samsung house fridge (it's a bigun) all knotty pine wood sides, a front loader washer and dryer stacked on top of each other, a king bed, queen hide a bed couch. So I honestly don't know why we are so light but I'll take it

front 12144 lb drive , tag 22726 lb total 34870 lb full fuel 191 gal with 25 gal of fresh water this was in 2012
no mci a/c all bus windows removed skinned with 18gage gal. steel fully converted

From empty shell to finished bus with everything in, tanks full, I only added 3,000lbs. I weigh 31,000lbs-10,500lbs on the front, 20,500lbs on the rear. Considering the 13,000lb front and 23,000lb rear rating, that means I'm 5,000lbs below rating! Try finding a sticks and staples MH with that much leeway!
On my truck, my starting weight was 28,000lbs (18,000lbs for the chassis and 10,000lbs for the box). If I add another 1,000lbs from my bus conversion, then I'll be at 32,000lbs. Add in carrying a car at 2,800lbs, that adds up to close to 35,000lbs. The chassis is rated at 12,000lbs front, 38,000lbs rear (on 44,000lbs 8 air bag suspension) for 50,000lbs. If I pull a 10,000lb boat behind, I'll be at 45,000lbs. Funny thing, when I was with Bekins Van Lines doing furniture hauling, my empty weight was 48,000lbs. My truck won't even be working at those weights! Good luck, TomC
