In the the bedroom of my 4104 it appears that the original overhead luggage compartments were used for storage, this actually works out really well. The original lighting all seems to be back there, so I am trying to get it to work so that the overhead storage will be easily accessible at night.

I spent a while tonight trying to get the lights to work and just want to confirm that I am going about it the right way. I assume that they are turned on by the General Lighting switch on the right dash panel. I know that the switch still makes it all of the way to tie 41 in the electrical panel and it would seem that breaker 12 provides the power, however the last thing I did was check the center screw on the General Lighting switch and it was missing 12 volts. Tomorrow I am going to check tie 51 in the electrical panel to see if the wire is still connected there.

Does anyone know if this is the correct switch and if the bus needs to have the run switch turned on, I know for some things it needs to be on like the passenger chime. My other question is can you replace the bulbs in the lights I did not look to far into it but they almost seem to be a sealed unit. I am hoping to be able to convert them to LED's to save on power, but either way it would be nice for them to work.

Here is a picture of the light that I am working on.

Jim,

My 4106 still has the General and Reading lights.  I use the general lights all the time, I think there are 16 left in my coach.  I don't know what the wattage is but I'll tell you that the lens gets extremely hot!  You won't want to accidentally leave something on top of a light.

BTW, two of the general lights come on when the main switch is turned to the Night position.

I figured out my issue and answered my questions so I am going to post them here and continue this in my build thread.

The light bulbs are replaceable you have to pry the glass lens off after removing the aluminum cover, and you can definitely fit in 1156 Led bulbs . In my bus you do not need to have on any other switches except for the general lighting one.

Thanks Mark in my bus two of them come on when I switch on the marker lights, which sounds similar to yours, and they do get really hot I am definitely converting mine to Led which should stop the high current draw and overheating.
