I'm still laughing at the price. Even if it includes a Ferrari as the towed, it's too high.

If the bus is in perfect shape, and you don't have to spend any money on it for several years, then $120k would be good. I have spent close to that over the years (20) on my conversion. Good Luck, TomC

Doc -

I'd get a very experienced mechanic to spend a few days and go through it with a fine tooth comb. I'd also get an appraisal for it. If you have that kind of money to spend then the cost of a mechanics time and a real appraisal isnt a whole lot more and will protect your investment. I'd think you'd have a hard time getting it appraised for more than 75k.

Buy what makes you happy, he will undoubtedly take a lesser offer then both of you will be happy, you for getting a "deal" and the seller for finding a buyer that will appreciate his coach, win win. (I wouldn't give that advice to everyone but if you have the money to spend on such things, go for it)

IMHO the 49 is an amateur conversion with an inadequate engine and a mediocre interior. (not intended as an insult) those issues could be looked past if the bus was cheap. consider scaring up a deal on a ready to use more modern bus. there are unbelievable turn key deals out there esp for a guy with cash ready to buy. go out and use it with the grand kids if you have the bug to get out. then find a vintage bus and commission a build to your specs at the same place doing the Renner conversion. it is forseeable that in the next few years the economy improves and you can probably off your new bus for what you paid for it if you buy it right. you will have more into your vintage conversion than its worth but probably not a whole lot more than its worth and it will be pretty close to or maybe even exactly what you want. its a much better scenario than having far more into the 49 than it is worth and having to live with its shortcomings. or put more $ into the 49. or sell at a sizeable loss. it will be impossible for you to sell anywhere near the price they are asking. I believe the only way you will enjoy a vintage conversion is if you build a fresh one with state of the art components front to back--like the Renner coach. just my 2 cents.

Go to your browser and type in "1947 flex bus".This will take you to what is actually a 1946 Flex that looks pretty good .It to has been changed out to a gas engine $5500.00.Now ,how do we go about splitting the 119,500.00 that is left?

check out the Flxible on the Atlanta, GA craigslist and save $110K - it is not as cosmetically nice as the one you mentioned and just as that one, you'd best check it out with somebody who knows buses (& preferably Flx's). Pluses are the 6V71 engine and bathroom with tub. Minuses are cosmetic due to some rust and unusual sleeping layout.

Barret Auction's has or had a flex for sale for 45,000.00.Talk about eye candy!! Problem was ,it also had a gas engine.

Maybe just a typo, I think that is a 6-71 not 6V71.

i believe i'd pay a 100k for the one posted before i'd pay 14k for the brown one...
