Revolutionizing the store lot relationship?

Asking at the local PD's has worked several times in the new England small town areas. Have been told
a few times to pull in their lots. Other suggestions have also been made as to where to park. Generally
am told as long as we (the PD) are aware no one will bother you.     06 Bill

Aw heck, I'm just floating ideas.  Bulletin boards make great think tanks, and lousy courtrooms.  It just depends how you choose to approach it.
There isn't one of you who I wouldn't go help roadside even if you poo-poo'd something I put in a post.  I'm not afraid to step in it by challenging conventional wisdom, and I'm not trying to win a popularity contest... I'm just trying to learn.

That said, I think some of you are overly paranoid about the phone thing....and that comes from a guy with a bunker and a tin foil hat collection.  
Look at it this way... they already have your address which is 123 stepsinfrontofyou st.   Anyone who wants to communicate with you already can.
I honestly suspect that if you posted a number that you had to be in front of the rig to read, that it would be a very rare occasion that you got a call from anyone other than store security.
I suppose I can imagine getting calls from the other rigs tho'.... like "hey, nice rig...where ya going?", or "Your left turn signal is out", or "hey, the police came by and took your plate #"...etc.  
In some cases I could see that as annoying, in others...helpful.   It's not like you have to answer the phone, so if the call is "This is the Walmart RV stalker and I'm watching you"... just block the number and crank the starter.   Better than meeting him in person.

I really think people have better things to do than collect your number and prank...or whatever.  I think there's a sale on TV dinners in there somewhere they need to get to.
The point was to make it easy on the store with some unifying way that they could save time and perhaps embarrassment.

I also have to be contrary to the idea that store managers want to meet you, or that they have some respect issue about their parking lot.
It's not their house... it's a giant parking lot where they work, and where RV's are a daily sight.   I promise you they have no feelings of trespass, and more than likely once you leave feeling like you've done the respectful thing, they just roll their eyes and go "ok...what was I doing?".
I hate to say it, but the greeter really isn't happy to see you either.  It's show.
I don't want you guys to dislike me for stating that opinion, but it is my opinion having managed people in bulk, and peering with others who do the same.

I have tried to approach this thread from the viewpoint of the manager and security, not from the RV'er or homeowner, and tried to find out how we could do them a favor in return for the gracious use of their space.

Anyway, I guess it won't fly.   I'm going to put my phone number on a little sign though and guinea pig it just for kicks.  I will report back even if I was wrong about the calls.

I don't go to the manager but to an assistant manager or the garden center manager. They have more time to talk and they are mostly well versed on the store policy.
