First off, I want to say thank you all for the great help and support, over the years. It has been quite a ride, and a good experience. I am not sure we would do it again, but we sure learned a lot, and had a good time.

Now we start the process of selling.

Does anybody have any ideas? It has rust in the main beam, as I have posted about before. However, it has several more years of good life in it. The coolest would be to park it and use it as a cabin.

Would anybody in Alaska like it as a hunt lodge? We are trying to think outside the box. The last option is to part it out, but that sounds like a lot of work. It is loaded with top of the line equipment.

Suggestions and ideas are welcome.

Thanks,

John

Might be a lot of places where it could be used as a hunting or fishing camp......maybe contact the Duck Dynasty guys and see if they want it?   ;D
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

Good to hear from you John I was thinking about sending a PM to check on you it's been so long,I always liked your honesty a feature hard to find in young people nowadays were you old enough to shave when you started on the bus lol. Good luck on selling the bus I know you will never even come close in getting the money back you invested in the bus that is a nice bus even with the rust  ::)

good luck

An idea would be to find someone who is starting the process on a MCI like yours, and convince them that parking yours beside theirs and transferring all the parts would be a great idea.  I have to say that you would probably get a lot more for the S60 and B500 combo than you will for a bus with terminal rust.  Makes me sick to think of that, I was pretty upset when you first posted that, I remember reading the post.

Thanks guys. Ed, great idea. It would make an epic episode for them.

Clifford, I have been shaving for a while. But, you are right. I think I am one of the youngest on the board here. But you were one of the very few people who knew that. My work has been crazy busy lately. The rest of the family will be downsizing to a rv trailer and a pull rig. Best case we hope to get pennies on the dollar. It is a nice setup for sure. I just won't sell it to someone else, without them knowing about the rust.

Brian, I agree. It still makes me sick. Bobby Easter bites us again. He is such a crook!

If you all have any other ideas, shoot away. I am all ears.

John , are you sayin that the rust is so bad, even with a s60 and b500, it would scare  off even Eagle people?

John,
There is life after the bus, I started the mc7 in 1988, spent waay too much money on it but I was happy, my opinion is with a welder, drill, lathe, mill & some moxie, you can make or repair anything.  Thinking your looking for a can do vs the wannabee.
I still miss my MC7, have replaced it with a fancy store bought coach.  I had a stroke that I had to relearn many things one takes for granted, like walking for an example.  So the new RV does not require the same crawling around yet, when it does it will go to the factory.
Oh yes, sold / gave the MC7 away, was fun, no regrets.

The D model  is different than the older MCI buses they are a truss design with a frame from front to rear the skinning on one is not structural like the older MCI repairing a main frame under one would be a huge and expensive under taking so they just scrap the D's out
They are bad about rusting and the air bags comeing up through the floor I seem to remember John having that problem repaired $$$$$$, Sam Caylor the last I heard would not repair a main frame on a D he just scraps it

Matt, the S60 and B500 is totally awesome. You are right, though. Maybe some Eagle guy wants it.

Dave. Thanks for the story. It will be good to move into a new phase.

Brian, as Clifford said it is not repairable.

Clifford, we just spent 5K to get the air bags coming through the floor issue, fixed. That is when they found the rusting main beam. Sam Caylor did offer to scrap it for us. He doesn't fix main beams.

John;
Enjoyed our bantering and the fun we had at your expense I.E. the Ditch, Lol. Sad though as it is, it was good stuff and you know of all people that is what life is all about eh!... Good luck with the Bus. As nice as everything else is on your bus minus one little rust problem someone will need all the other parts especially the motor and tranny, and mostly hyway driving also. Can't bet that?

hey how about the Missouri campground that wanted the buses for people to stay in and they were using a theme type of deal? Mike and Cristy, Singing Land Cruiser   I think?

If you ever miss it just come on by the Ranch and you can do the maintenance on ours  ;D
Take care my friend. Happy travels!...
