 ;)

I didn't think of that.. Hmmmm...

I have been having issues with RoadRunner and Brighthouse cable. My signal disappears when the temperature drops
below 50 degrees outside and I have spent the last 2 weeks arguing with them. At 40 degrees I have no internet
but at 60 it's fine.

The last straw was that I called them at 5:00 am and got through to national support in canada and they finally put a trouble
ticket in. I reset the cable modem and it went back to default DHCP and gave me a different IP address but since it is already
60 outside I was just testing to soo what IP was showing up on the BBS...

Another call or two and My original fixed Ip is now back..... such a pain.....

Thanks....

Dave...

Having worked in the Cable industry (data side and voice side, both with a major network equipment supplier) and directly experiencing something similar, this sounds like a bad connection between the pole/pedestal and your house. If you have access to all of your in-home connections and splitters simply check for loose connectors to eliminate that possibility. The fastest way to get them out there to look at the rest of the connections is to tell them that your TV picture is really fuzzy and you're not going to pay them until it gets clear "like it used to be."

I would complain about the fuzzy picture but I only have a cable modem, My TV is dish network, My home
phone is Voip. Everything from the modem to the pole is new thanks to me trying to drive my bus into the side
yard last year. 13 foot bus doesn't fit under 11 foot cable too well. It's all in-ground now.

The problem is due to damage on the main trunk cable about 400 feet down the block. A tree fell during the tornado in December and yanked all the power lines off the poles. The cable line is still stretched almost to the ground and never stopped working
even with a tree hanging from it. They are being stupid it appears and won't go physically look and test the junction box where the stretched cable is connected.

I was a cable guy in the 70's and got out of that and became a Network tech in the late 80's and been doing that stuff ever since
either by choice or by force. Seems that once you work a few miracles for some companies they just keep calling year after year. It's
not a way to make a living but can be both frustrating and challenging at times. I don't climb poles or tall ladders or do attics anymore. when the wiring needs to be done I call someone else to wire it and I just hook it all up and make it work.

I am really leaning towards a UnaSat system now and take it on the bus with me when I travel ( If I travel $$$ )...

Rain and Wind I can understand, Corporate Stupidity just isn't as tolerable as much as I get older.....and Grumpier....
