"Pacific" bus?

I have seen this bus around town a couple of times, name plate on front said Pacific. the engine compartment door had Freightliner painted on it, never heard of Pacific manufacturing bus's.

It looks like a school bus to me.  I didn't think Freightliner did anything with school buses until they bought Thomas at a much later date than this bus.

That's an old Kenworth Pacific.   They were popular in the PNW, then Gillig bought them, thus their resemblance to the classic Gillig school buses before the Phantom.   It was said that any lady drivers should not wear skirts while driving them . . .

John has it the bus is a 1955 T-126 "Pacific School Coach" built by Kentworth several of those around here in the west you see from time to time

I owned the very last highway coach produced by Kenworth, a 1948 XW-1.  Kenworth produced buses from the '20's until that bus (except for school buses).  After WWII they wanted to concentrate production on trucks, so transferred the  school bus production to Pacific Car and Foundry, hence the name change from Kenworth to Pacific.  They built an awsome school bus, but Paccar eventually wanted to get out of school bus production and sold the division to Gillig in '57 or '58.  You hardly ever see a Kenworth/Pacific school bus for sale, I would buy it if it was stock.  None of this is related to the Pacific truck manufacturer in Vancouver, BC, also a helluva vehicle.
