Any idea what would cause this oil leak? My engine has a turbo. Could it be causing this?

 I have been letting it idle for a hour while working on it. Is this bad for it?

Don't let it idle for long periods stuff builds up in the air and one day when you will fire up it will scare the hell out of you when the engine starts running wild till all the excess fuel and oil burns  BTDT  ::)

Winter below freezing temp   1500 RPM  Your Engine Temp should be at 180 deg regardless what the outside temp is If your engine is running cold at low RPM it will slobber oil and eventually put it to a slow death .

When overnight in a hotel at -20 or -30, we used to let them fast idle all night. Don't know if it was good for them, we just drove them, but we knew they would be running in the morning for us. Lots of diesel fumes! They had radiator shutters that kept them warmer while idling too.

You're the cause! I couldn't figure out why we had so much snow this winter! It's you putting some much global warming... er... climate change gasses in the atmosphere! Stop that!

I went on a three week bus tour in the late 80s.  The drivers idled the engines a lot during those three weeks.  At least one state had anti-idling laws already and the bus would stink and be hot when we got in it.  I don't know why the bathroom vent fan couldn't run on battery.

  If you need to let it idle that long, plug in the block heater to keep the temp up, and use a fast idle.

Chessie - I have a block heater that is basically a heating element that screws into the side of the block.  The mechanic that installed it said not to run the bus while the block heater is on as it would ruin the heating element on the heater.  Just posted this to see if this is correct.  I have no idea either way...I just do as I'm told :)  I'm sure that there are other types of heaters as well that would have no issue in this instance (of heating while the engine was running)

   I never had any failure with mine on my coach or any in vehicles I owned from back to early eighties from using them with engine idling.
