Didn't know the gentleman but coming from you two boys and your admiration must of been a heck of a good man. RIP.

Mr. Ahlf.  That is a name from the distant past.  Way back in around 1975 or so, we used to pester a Mr. Ahlf, (I think that's who it was) to let us crazy Bakersfield City Firefighters dig through his bone pile of Detroit Diesel parts from which it was possible to assemble working 353 and 453 Detroit Diesel engines.  They were installed in various Ford 3/4 ton and 1 ton duelly pickup and farm trucks.  The most successful had a Jake or was it added later?  Can not remember.  Thank you.  HB of CJ (old coot)  Could this be his son....or grandson?  How time flies. :( :(

That would be my old friend Stan Alhf who owned the company with Jack Delaney.  Stan was a prince of a guy and boy did he know 2 strokes after working on them since the inception of the product.  Stan tuned or repaired many an engine for me in the '70's.  I think Tim was his nephew if I am correct.  Tim told me a few years ago that Stan passed away around 2002.  Does anyone know what Tim passed from?  I don't think he was that old.  Sad news.
