Funny numbers

I came across this and noted the engine horsepower. I know that many fire departments want to cut costs but this may be going too far.

I don't know, if you're looking at the horsepower on the  Cummins ISX12 they are anywhere from 315 to 425 HP I think.  Pretty good in town sled.

Seems kinda low on the HP for fire depts most like more hp here the Cat C-13 engines in 3 are set at 525 hp what they need with that much is beyond me the longest run they ever make is less than 10 miles on the taxpayers dime they like the best

For most fire apparatus 400-500 is the idea and most specified. 300-400 is certainly not sluggish. I was just pointing out the error where they list 45hp on that white beauty.

Could be either 425hp or 450hp-at 1650lb/ft torque. ISX12 is a nice engine to drive. Good Luck, TomC

@luvrbus here in CA we run C13s like you said, and when we are pushing 50+k lbs up and down hills, in and out of traffic, then park and put it into pump gear and pump 1500 GPM, we need as much power as possible. And yes, it is on the tax payer's dime, but it's like an insurance policy, you pay for it hoping you never have to use it.
