Bay dimensions

The answer is probably somewhere in the archives, but I don't see it.  Will my 8 foot step ladder fit crossways in the bay of a 96" bus?  If it won't, I might as well give up and get rid of the unused ladder I've been hoarding for the last 5 years.  Thanks

YOu probably have les than 8 ft across.  I have a 102, and I have a little less than 8 ft myself.  It can still fit if you put it on its side, and diagonal across the bay.  Not very effcient use of space though.  I save all those things until I can actually try it.  The space etc sometimes surprises me, and other times it give me yet another "genius" rated idea when I see the items and the space together.

Dollars to donuts says the ladder won't mind if you cut a foot off of it....just make sure you cut it off the bottom......

My 102" wide coach won't fit anything 8 feet long straight in the bays.

I found this out when I loaded 20 or 30 sheets of plywood in the bay.  The door wouldn't quite close all the way.  I had to drive the 5 miles home slowly with the bay door wide open.  I did take out the light bulb so it would be less likely to catch someone's attention.

Dennis, a question.  Is there a way you can fit it diagonally (either horizontal or vertical orientation)?  If it doesn't have to be parallel or at right angle to the coach, you gain some extra length, and you may not have to skew it much to gain what you need.  The middle bedroom in our 4107 is a little short for my taste, so I'm working on a concept to place the bed at a slight angle - to gain some extra legroom (don't plan to use it while moving).

I have a 12 ft. ladder in the bay of my 5A.....of course it is a telescoping ladder that is only 29 or 30 inches tall when collapsed.

Thanks, Guys.  Arthur, I think I'll probably just keep it in the basement for Marilyn to use when I'm at home, and if I need to carry a ladder, just get a collapsible job...for her to use on the road.  That will work, right guys??

Hey, Brian.  My reaction to you driving with the bay door open is the same thing the cowboy said when the Indian shot a flaming arrow at his wagon.  "Can he DO that?" Ha!

I bought a folding ladder at one of the box stores, aluminum,folding and extends to reach just the top of the side of the coach. It has worked great and does not take up too much space in one of my bays.
