Does anyone else sell the rebuild kits for air wipers for MCI-8 other than US Coach?  I bought one from them a couple of years ago and it was pretty expensive.

Or does someone sell the units already rebuilt?

Just curious, have electric on mine, but how often do you have to rebuild those air wipers.?

luvrbus

I know of a 1950 model bus the Trico air wipers on his have never been rebuilt, the people I know that have the new Sprague HP-200 love those air wipers

Do they need to be completely rebuilt, or do they just need some lube?   If the latter, it's easy to put a small inline air lubricator like this immediately before each wiper motor:  http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/air-tool-accessories/14-micro-fog-lubricator-68227.html   I did this for my Sprague HP-200 wiper motors, and they work much better now.   I used a short length of braided clear vinyl tube between the lubricators and motors so I can see how much oil is going through, and after I first installed them I just ran them for half an hour or so until some oil started dripping out each motor's exhaust tube (or, in deference to Geoff, their slobber tubes . . .).

They work so well that I think I'll buy another similar lubricator for my door's air cylinder  -  maybe I'll need two, because it's a double-acting cylinder.   For less than $10 each they seem to be just as effective as a $45 Norgren.

The lubricators are a good idea in deference to removing the motors, cleaning and re-lubricating. Just make sure to add motor air exhaust lines if it doesn't have them and direct them to lower outside of coach. You don't want to be inhaling oil mist while driving the coach.

The best price I found for rebuilt units is $200 from Rome Trucks...Anybody have a place with a better price?

If you install a regulator on the air wipers set at 85 lbs they never change speed or flop I have installed Rome rebuilt units before they even look new you can even add a delay to air wipers Eagles had a delay on the air wipers

good luck

I'm going to install the oilers on mine for now but I think Clifford posted once that it is easy to convert them to electric using a setup from a flat front school bus.....they were all electric and should be available in a junk yard pretty cheap.

I switched to a two electric motor system. It has an electronic synchronizer that keeps the two motors running the same. I love the system.

I know on new trucks, there are no such thing as air wipers anymore. My 1985 Kenworth still has air wipers. When they quit, I'll change those also to electric. Good Luck, TomC
