I am looking to install a turbo on my 1960 4104-4900 and would like to find a old motor sitting in a field that I could rebuild all the parts( i do not want the whole motor). I want to find the exhaust manifold, turbo, all piping , oil lines to turbo, and blower. I would be willing to drive there and remove all parts if within 3 or 4 hundred miles of South Carolina. Thanks Dave 302-983-4260

I was really hoping to find an old brigadire or bis motor so they would have the right exhaust

I think you find those parts in a old 6500 or 7500 GMC I'll check at a farm here they have a couple setting around that were turbo's

I will look his number up and see what kind of price he has.

Realistically-if you build up a 6-71 into a turbo and use 80 injectors, you'll have 300hp and 900lb/ft torque. The 4spd will probably blow out since the angle drive is on the output side with the additional torque. You could change to the 8V-71 4 spd that has the angle drive on the input side, but then the angles will all be wrong. I would find a 96" wide bus with a 6V-92TA and Allison V730 to do the swap. Then you'll have 350hp and 1000lb/ft torque. Good luck, TomC

And he would then have to change the rear axle to a 4106 or later so the diff angle matches up.  The Spicer will hold up under that hp with a little care.

and i dont believe after reading all the post about the bus get togathers that that silversides blew apart so I hope I can get some input from him also. I like my old bus and would like to keep it and I dont mind shifting although I will get an air assist clutch.
