Driving from Cloudcroft to Durango next Saturday and need a sleep stop in Albuquerque.  Checked all the Walmarts on "Allstays" and overnite parking has been banned.  Just need a place to park for a few hours to sleep, then on our way.  Any ideas for the area?

Do not know ABQ area, but would be looking for a truck stop, have been a trucker many years ago, I feel comfy at one.  I do some things differently than some, but never had an issue with anything other than lot lizzards.

Does it have to be Albuquerque? Isn't there a small town that would work? We often stay in school parking lots overnight without being bothered. We feel safer in a small town than in a large city anyway. If all else fails, would a campground be prohibitive? We feel that truck stops are too noisy with too little space between units, but will stay in one in a pinch.

Good luck wit your search, Sam

Sam4106,
I gotta laugh, the noise puts me to sleep I think as it never bothers me, howsomever cattle haulers with bovine, hogs or sheep would cause me to move. ;D

Casino north of town will let you park. Casino south of town will let you park. Truck stop in the center of town will and truck stop on the west edge will.

I will look but it seems like there are still people parking at the Eubank and I40 Walmart.

You can PM me and I will check or get you more specific information.

 Might be able to stay at Camping World out to the west of town.

We always stay at the Sandia casino just north of town.  Beautiful casino, they like having you for a guest. Very large, clean and secure.

Hi;
   Lasst time thru there we stayed at the flying "J" on the
   west side of town. Have also stayed at walmart there.
   That was a strange place.  Also might check your road
   atlas. There is a rest stop approx 40 mi west and another
   approx 40 mi east of ABQ.
                            Good luck,  Merle.

        A few years ago, I was doing LA to the East Coast in big chunks (four-wheelin it).  I stopped at that F-J about mid-night, filled up, and realized how tired I was.  I pulled over to a parking row of other cars, dropped the back seat, and had a comfortable sleep until the sun came up.  There were about half a dozen other people in that row, some with the driver's seat just leaned back, others in more comfortable; one was a young woman in a pickup sleeping across the seat -- nobody had any problems or discomfort that I knew of.

Thanks for all the replies.  We found a park on the river in Bernalillo on U.S. 550 that is $22 night hookups, $14 dry camp.  That would be good enough for us.  It looks like we will get there earlier in the day than thought, so a park would be a bit nicer than blacktop.  ;)
