Where is your favorite Campground/Resort (family fun and fits busses)

Everytime I think of Maine, I get flash backs of Mars Hill & Presque Isle, hauling spuds south in winter.  For some unknown reason I never had the desire to relive it.

Think I just figured out why I have no desire for the ocean anymore, I lived a year at Surf City, NC when I was a young Jar Head out of Camp Lejeune, NC, guess I have smelled all the dead fish and had enough sand in my crotch for a life time, I now prefer hills/mountains & cool temps.

Seriously, http://www.cherokeesmokies.com/rvcampground/  , we spend a week there every year, call ahead they only take cash or checks, If you go let me know and I'll give you stuff to do.

Also the coolest (temp wise) is probably Mount Pisgah, at 5000 feet it's probably the coldest south of the Mason Dixon, and Try sliding rock to stay cool during the day.

Hi all,

Just to be clear, Camp Hatteras is an RV campground in Rodanthe, NC with paved sites and full hookups. It's an "rv resort" with ocean or sound side sites. (We prefer the sound.) That was the basis of my recommendation.

The National Park Service operates some campgrounds at Cape Hatteras that feature primitive camping, and it looks like that's where the posted pics might be from. No shade, no hookups, plenty-o-skeeters. Pretty rustic, but beautiful if that's your thing.

I have no connection with Camp Hatteras other than to say it's a great place in the off-season, even if they are a little pricey.

Knoebels Grove  amusement park in Elysberg,Pa. Lots of RV parking and park is under the trees.

I can't much help you on the right hand side of the continent Nick other than to give the advice my ancestors heeded: "go west young man!" 

Once you do that there's lots of spots:

Anywhere on coastal 1 between San Diego and Olympia.

Quartzsite on the BLM land in Dec/Jan (not so much for kids)

Whispering Pines campground on Mara Lake in the interior of BC

And our all time favorite: Waskesiu Lake in Prince Albert National Park.

We did the outer banks and Myrtle beach on our way back west and can tell you it is well worth the trip. We went when most of the tourists were gone so it wasn't overly crowded.

AND we plan on a return trip so we can stay longer

I don't own a bus but I see a lot of them at OceanLakes campground in Myrtle Beach which is one of my favorite campgrounds to go to.
