Up On The Roof

I need to get up on the roof of our 2000 Prevost XL II to check out a water leak coming from a roof top A/C unit.

Any suggestions as to where to stand or walk. I have been on the roof of our MCI many times and it was real easy to stay on the support ribs. Is it easy to to see the location of the ribs on a Prevost? Do I need to stay on the ribs or is the roof strong enough to support a 230 lb person?

Don't know Paul, but if I got up there i would just get me some narrow plywood and set it down to distribute weight. Move it around to where you need it. Home Depot will split it for you if you don't have a saw. Take a 4x8 sheet of 1/2 inch and split it for your needs.

The roof is structure on a Prevost at shops you see 2 or 3 people walking on one carrying a roof top

Thanks for the info on the roof strength. It will make a lot easier finding the cause of the leak if I can move around without worrying about damaging anything.

Hi Paul,

An XLII will have ribs every 32" and the aluminum skinning is pretty strong..

So, if your not on the ribs, you will still be ok.

Hi Nick,

Since the GMs are a similar aluminum skin design, do you know if that would be true for them as well?

I get tickled every time I see 5 or more of them roof warts up there

I have not built a racedeck on a GM yet but, we have built 14 decks so far on H3-45's and 2 on XLII's.
