Does anyone have the Ac takeout out of a 102MCI. I have the compressor an the cooling blower. Also, what is everyone using for their Freon...

Not trying to kill your enthusiasm, and I don't know about your bus, Richard, but getting a 40+ year old system up and running and keeping it that way will require tons of $$$$. In our case, with a complete system, except compressor, it would have cost us about 40% of the purchase price of our bus, or enough to buy all six new tires. And it steals power from your engine (kills fuel economy big time.) An it doesn't work when you are parked with the engine off.

Richard if it a 05G Carrier it will take 134-A, R-22 or R-12 buy 30lbs of freon and 8 pints of oil I just helped a friend change one in his Prevost just north of 5 grand for dryer, rebuilt compressor, oil, freon, valve ,belts, and clutch we used 134-A the cheap stuff lol

Dr. Steve, I've always had OTRA in my MC-7 And loved it. Ever had your gen quit in 100+ temps? I have and was happy I had the bus air. I now have a c-3 and will put the ac in it. I would take it out of the 7, but the cond. isn't the same size. I may have to make some adjustments but we'll get there.

Thanks Cliff, I have 134  &  22 and I think I'll try 22. You know I'm sitting here in NB waiting for Jakes and some BBQ. I have a set of elec injectors and computer out of this bus if you know someone who needs one.

I have three 13,500btu Coleman roof airs. Unless it's over 105 degrees outside, two keep the inside a comfortable 75 degrees going down the road. Granted I have to run the generator while driving, but in the 19 years the roof tops have been on, except for cleaning the filters, I've done nothing to the A/C's. I don't believe there is anyone with stock over the road A/C that can say that about their system. And that's with three roof tops that originally cost $1,600.00 for all three (with heat strip). Good Luck, TomC

Did you change the 8v92 DDEC in the bus to a mechanical Richard ?

Yes I did. Don't like the compute. I'm taking everything out of my wreaked 7 and am putting it into the c-3. When I get that done I'll scrap the 7. I did some more measuring this morning and the 7 OTRA will fit with some mods.

Hi yo silver

My MC9 still has the OTR A/C, Freeze 12 refrigerant. You could hang meat in the bus.  I like having it, not having to run the genny on the road. I might hurt mileage a little, but I don't need to run it longer than about ten minutes at a time when temps are in the upper 80s. Just my experience.

Dennis, I'm with you. 75 degrees is to hot for this old man!!!! Hang Meat....Tom C , I have 2 rooftops that I split and built a 3 ton ducted unit 27 yrs ago and they were used then. I also have 2 window units that I split, one for the bedrm & one at the front of the bus. They were old too, about 25+so I have about 38,000 BTU for cold--Works good..I don't think the new stuff is as good as the old stuff. Anyway, I'm saving my genny for Wallyworld overnight.

I should restate-we have the thermostat set at 75 degrees-which is plenty cold with dehumidified air. If I turn it down all the way, I'll get 66 degrees inside-which my wife will have a sweater on. Good Luck, TomC

The OTR unit in my MC8 is still working well and I have large directional vents that blast nearly all of the air coming out the two front floor ducts to the very front of the bus so I get to keep cool --  but what I would like is a couple of those magic roof AC units that can keep a 40' bus at 75 while running down the road on a hot day.

Problem I see is that perched right up front in front of a large screen, the driver just isn't going to be in the comfort zone no matter how cool it is a couple of feet behind him
