Kudos and all that. Looks like he's doing a fine job. Nice to have him involved at the early age. Hope he stays interested as he grows.

Now the rant...

I don't see safety glasses or ear protection on him.

Safety is like Chicago voting... practice it early and often.

You are correct with the safety aspect. I have been trying to teach my son the do things safely ( wear a helmet when riding the four wheeler, safety glasses when grinding metal ect..) We all talk about the major stuff like blocking the bus before crawling under it. Good to have someone remind us to work safely when doing the small stuff too...thanks.

I would probably use a face shield or tight sealing goggles instead of safety glasses. The polishing compound thrown off can go right up under safety glasses.

I got metal in my eye when grinding a few years back and had to go to the ER. I was wearing safety glasses. I got a full face respirator before I started grinding again. I use the full face respirator any time I do something where stuff might get underneath safety glasses. I went with a respirator instead of face shield because you don't really want to be breathing in clouds of dust from grinding rust.

Clean it super well, you could use some carb cleaner/break fluid (some might be against this as to how corrosive they can be to the skin) with some 0000 steel wool. Then any SS polish at auto zone should work.
