I have had    hid   head lights for about 5 years now and they are starting to give me problems. I was looking to replace them with led head lights and maybe driving lights. Does anyone have any experience with them ?              thanks        dave

I have led headlights, they are only for low beam, they give very good light, although probably not as good as HID,s.  They are pricey, about $400 apiece.  I have not seen 24 volt ones but they probably make them.    Cheers Gerry.

I did a little research on this for my bike. I bought Trucklite Phase 7's from Discount Fleet Supply, mostly due to the look and price. Haven't ridden much at night yet but first trip out wasn't impressive. Maybe adjustment isn't quite right. They are less than $200 each and work on voltages up to 30vdc if I remember correctly. The older Phase 6 might be suitable for a bus but don't look right on a Harley IMO. Check DFS for pretty good variety of options. BTW, I'm talking 7 inch round lights here. Don't know what else might be available. Good luck.

I was thinking of something like this as a driving light at night (2 or 4 x ) or maybe the double light bar at 72 watts? What I would like to know is how much lumen are reg bus lights at 55watts                      http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/super-duty-lights/45-round-27w-super-duty-high-powered-led-flood-light/947/2330/   thanks dave

I think the beam is too wide. It would shine really wide, but not very far. I would look for a narrower beam.

I found 4x6 rectangular led headlamps, direct replacement for sealed beams on my '87 Prevost. About $250 ea. Not for me right now!  I'll post link to vendor as soon as I find it again.

Harley D sells led headlamp & driving light upgrades for their bikes.  Pricey.

OTOH, Sylvania Silverstar Ultras on my H2 are very good. 4000 K  Syl. Now has a Silverstar XYZ, or something like  that. More blue.

Freightliner makes military trucks that are a combination of Western Star cabs with Freightliner hoods and called a Freightliner. Series 60 with Allison automatic, no smog, and a 450amp 24v alternator ($5500!). These have 4-7" headlights that are LED. I thought they were cool and since my '63 Falcon and my '84 Mercedes have 7" round headlights, I thought it be cool to have. Until I found the price- $375.00 ea! Nice to know where our tax money is going. Good Luck, TomC

Is anyone using the JW Speaker LED headlights in the 4" x 6" size?  I see some pretty favorable reports from a driver's perspective, but not sure if they would blind other drivers.

Since they cost around $400 each (not per pair) I doubt that I would ever buy them, but it would interesting to see if anyone here has them.

Blinding oncoming traffic with bright head lights doesn't seem to be a concern anymore for lots of drivers!

What is wrong with your HIDs?   Are they in your bus?

Yes they are in the bus . I had a ballast replaced 2 years ago and now I think the other one is on its way out as some times I have to turn lights on and off a couple of times to get the right light to stay on . They don't like to go on and off at start up. ( won't work on the dodge with the lights that shut off when the turn sig. goes on )                dave
