Hi Guy's,

Yup, moved my bus today and found 2 big chunks of rust on the ground...

I discovered that my front air bag upper beams on my 102C3 are getting worse then I thought. So

it's time to plate them up...

Has anyone done this yet?

Sounds like a fun spring project..

Nick; did some on a 8 once. used a needle scaller and took it down till had good metal and wire welded surface patch in then undercoated finished product.  The needle scaller sure lets you know where you have bad metal and you can tell when it gets solid.  Bobby

I'm in the process of doing that on my MC-8
Block off plates and rolling lobe bags. Got them from Mohawk supply. Great people

A "C" still has air beams and convoluted bags? I know for sure a "D" has rolling lobes and no air beams.

I think some of you are getting your exercise for the day by jumping to conclusions. LOL Nick didn't say he has air beams, he said he is going to plate the upper air bag support beams. My interpretation is that he is reinforcing the structural strength of the support beams, not stoping air leaks. Of course, it could be me that is jumping to conclusions. Hopefully Nick will give us the real story. I agree with JC, I don't think an MCI 102C3 has air beams.

Good luck, Sam

Thanks Sam!!

Yea, No air beams... Just the steel beams that support the air springs.

US Coach informed me about the rust last year while doing routine maint. and

I just figured I do it in do time and now is Do Time!!

I have a complete fabrication shop but no pit. So, I just may cut all the plates

and take it to Luke's for the pit..

Thanks
