PS:  Help us help you.  Edit your profile (click on the tab in the menu bar above) to include a signature line with at least your first name, home base city/state and coach make/model.  No sense sending you to NJ for help if you're in AZ, right?

Mark:  What is the serial number of your bus?  My first bus was a 1980 h8h also... number 175.  If I remember correctly there were only 225 made that final year.  Mine had lots of problems and I ended up having to see it (give it away) to a guy that wanted it only for parts.

My number is 009 of 225

Mark -

FYI, H8H649-009 was delivered new as fleet number H-802 in March of 1979 to Wurtsboro-Hudson Corp (dba Hudson Transit Lines), HQ'd in Mahwah, NJ.

Mark,

Interesting mine is 1979 H8H649 053, yours is a 1980? Did 009 come with a manual or automatic transmission?

Thanks,

Jack

Mine came with a manual trans but someone installed a VS2-8 automatic but it seems to have so parts missing cause you have to shut the bus off to change from foward to reverse and thats a pain in the @$#.

I hear ya, my clutch was out of adjustment/ hard to get in gear from neutral. I had to shut down to get it in gear from neutral. Guess I had nothing to complain about at least I could get from forward to reverse without shutting down.

I was told that the H8H models came with autos so have been curious to know if mine was standard from the factory or not. There is a cutout in the bulkhead to allow the transmission pan to clear that doesn't look stock, however it's hard to believe someone one go through the trouble to outfit it with the necessary linkage and clutch to convert to standard transmission.

Sorry to hijack your tread hope your molding works out.

Thanks,

Jack

According to the information included with my GM coach delivery roster is a list of 4905s that came from the factory with automatics.

93 out of 225 H8Hs came with autos, the rest were manual gearboxes.
