Hard Headed Ken

Bob,
I'm running a 3:36 diff, 1400 RPM at 70 MPH, .74 top gear. I think Jim's running a 3:73 diff, I think he's got the same top gear as me, maybe he will tell us his RPMs at 70. Tom C has a really good calculator for gear ratios and road speeds.

I really need to verify my numbers again! It is the ratio that came with the world trans in the XLE from prevost  1998. I thought the book said 4:56  Time to get the cobwebs out of this old brain, needs to be exercised ::) Been so tied up with details on other parts have forgotten about some details.  Bob

Yes, I have 3.73 gears.  That gives me 1500 at 68 MPH.

With 4.56, you would be 55 MPH at 1500  and somewhere around 77 MPH at 2100 (assuming you have tires with about 473 rev per mile like my 11 24.5).

Bob all the seated coaches had 4:56 but had the option for 4:30 with the World that year model all the entertainer shells I've seen and been around 4:30 was the standard and would haul @$# in 6th OD,the B500 they came with were 0.74 in fifth OD and 0.64 in sixth OD they would go down the down

Should be that 4:30 then. Was original rear end out of bus. I got it from Dick, who bought it out of bus before I got it. So in between the 4:56 I thought the book said and what Jim is running. I have it installed so to late to count teeth.  Bob
