Just curious. Has anyone heard of bypassing the EGR in a S60/50?

The hockey team's D3 I used to drive was a 1995 with a pre EGR S60. Boy it had lots of power!

I am installing a delete kit in my Powerstroke, and looking into doing it to the VW TDI. If you are wondering why, the exhaust gases get recirculated into the intake manifold and soot up and eventually clog up the intake and the EGR cooler, creating all kinds of problems. Bypassing it also increases  power.

Of course bypassing the EGR is a no-no for a commercial vehicle because it would not pass emissions tests, but on a private coach...

JC, Here in the states the fines are very large for deleting EGR's on motors that came with it. The truckers are having fair sucess with placing a resistor in place of the barometric sensor. That tells the ECU that the machine is above 6500' and it does not come on. My question is other than a detroit dealer or a smarter mechanic who is going to know the EGR is not working, or smart enough to know the motor should have the EGR anyway. More thoughts?
