Trojan T 105 batteries in MCI 7

FYI.  Trojan t105 golf cart batteries will fit in MCI 7 battery trays.  2 per tray, long ways.  It's tight, but it works.  I wonder if the same is true of MCI 8's and 9's.

MC 8/9 don't have trays, per se,  there's just a flat compartment to jam them in and bolt 'em down.

Four 105s fit in a MCI 8 or 9 in place of the 2 8D's with left over space

What would be the advantage of using T105's over 8D or 4D aside from the individual lift weight?  There does not seem to be any price advantage.

Hello:    T105 batteries are deep cycle.   I don't believe they are the right application for start batteries .  FWIW.  
  I use 12 batteries 3 groups of 4   for the trace 2624 inverter.. 2500 watt 24 volt.. mounted on a slide put rack for watering.  I had to change one battery last year . Had a bad cell..   10 years service so far..  T105s are excellent batteries...  
     I don't know if you are using the batteries for starting or inverter service so my point may be moot...

  I have been researching changing my start batteries to the biggest group 31s but I chickened out because i am getting ready for a big trip. Found a bad cell in one of the exide 8Ds .  They lasted 49 months.  (134 each 5 hers ago).  THe latest duracell 8Ds cost 176 each at sams.  Duracell is made at east penn..     Sams warranty is only 12 months; Bought 2 last week.  Same time I took the iMac back for a lightning repair..  under warranty 500 bucks new logic board.. The lesson learned is unplug it after each use...

Hey Lin!

I posted it without making the case for using 2 group 31's as start batteries, which I placed in the spot originally holding the AC pump.  2 Group 31's exactly drop inside the old framework.  I put a separate master disconnect switch back there as well.  That left the old tray's for a different use.  I'd not seen anyone mention putting house batteries in that location, so I thought I'd get it into the system for reference.

I have 2-8D AGM batteries that are rated at 255amp/hrs each.  510amp/hrs sounds like a lot, but when dry camping (when the A/C is not necessary) I still run the genset 2 hrs in the morning and evening.  On my truck, I'm going to use the Lifeline 6v L16.  4 will give me 800amp/hrs @ 12vdc.  It that's not enough, I'll have room to add on.  I have a friend that uses 2 of these batteries in his big rig sleeper laid on their side-says they are really powerful.  Won't deal with the nearly 160lbs of the 8D's anymore-the L16's are 119lbs each.  Good Luck, TomC
