Just thought I'd let y'all know John and his mechanic, & Ace saved my dad & I from major worries this past Saturday!

Dad called me @ 9:20 PM Friday night telling me that the guy we normally call on in the Orlando area had "stood him up" and not come to the "condo" he & mom were at to change out one of the alternators on his Setra S417. We had the alt. in a box on the bus as I knew it was only a matter of time before it went out on us & I haven't had time to change it.

So dad was going to call Mears Transportation in Orlando (one of the biggest in transportation in FL) an see if they could send out a mechanic to do it.

I knew IF they would/could send someone out that late @ night it would cost us a small fortune!

And I knew dad wasn't real far from Lakeland where John's shop is, but I didn't have John's # (shop or cell) on me, and I didn't know if he would be open on Saturday to do it either.

So I called Ace and bothered him @ around 10:30 PM and asked him if John's shop was open on Sat.
Ace told me yeah he has someone on call all the time & they rotate weekends. And asked what I needed I told him and he assured me John's crew could take care of it for me.
He even called John and gave him a heads up that I needed it done and John told him to give me/my dad his # and have us call that night to set it up!

So I asked Ace to text the # straight to dad as I was on the road headed home. (back woods 2 lanes at that!)
So Ace sent dad the message and dad called John and they worked out the details.

When I got home I called dad to make sure all was good to go and he told me yeah, got it covered, gonna go over there in the AM and get it taken care of.

Well he did go down there and get it done and I guess it fought the mechanic all the way as the alternator had been on the bus 7 yrs & 290000+ miles. (and had a major overkill of loctite on every bolt)

They spent close to 3 hrs on it and charged dad less than $200.
Which I thought was EXCEPTIONALLY FAIR on call on a Saturday!

So kudos to John, his mechanic & Ace for saving the day for us!

OH yeah to be totally fair to the guy we call on regularly in Orlando. It wasn't his fault he stood mom & dad up.

On their way to Orlando when the alt. had gone out they had called Setra of Orlando and made arrangements to go there & get it done after dropping off the group at their condo's. (gonna have to pay overtime hrs from 4:30 PM until they got there and were done)

But then we'd gotten a hold of our regular guy and he agreed to come out to the condo and do it that night after they got settled in.

Well a little later mom made a call (she thought to Setra to cancel) telling them "we got someone else to do it."
But she was talking to the wrong guy and cancelled the mobile repair guy thinking she was calling Setra.
Later Setra called them asking where they were, and dad figured out mom had canceled the wrong guy.

By the the mobile guy was out helping someone broke down with passengers on board and I'd all ready contacted Ace. (and John through Ace)
SO dad just told Setra he covered and mom had called "someone " and canceled but not the them evidently.

Oops. Still great to hear about a positive
Experience since it doesn't always work out that way. The $$$ do seem more than fair too! They have gents there comfy tinkering with two-strokes?

When we were there they had 2 guys who were "pretty comfy" with 2-strokes.  One of them might have been older than Clifford - I know - hard to believe - so he might not still be there but big Joe wasn't that old.
