Car fuse panel...

So the PO politely wired nearly every DC object on the bus to a terminal strip directly to the batt bank... No fuses! I have access to a local salvage yard that if a part fits in a brown bag it's yours...( also a computer customer) anyone see a problem with using one out of something modern with a high amp rating?

As long as every circuit has a fuse-I see no problem in using a recycled fuse panel.  Good Luck, TomC

I used a new fuse block to replace one on this bus.  On the last bus, I had gotten the DC breaker panel out of an old school bus and used that.  It had automatic reset and was very convenient.

i have several fuse blocks and relay blocks from modern cars after scrapping them..now days.. getting lazy..  I dont use them on street rod applications or most anything else, as it is just easier and much cleaner work just to get a painless or other panel with marked wires...

I do use the harness wires occasionally if they are the right gauge and length for some application.

Used automotive ones have the wires sometimes sealed in the panel and it's a mess to get them out or join them. Depending on how many fuses you need a new one looks a lot neater and may be less trouble in the long run. The only used ones I've used have come from an ambulance as they are a large after market type. Hope this helps..

I used a panel and ran 2 fused hots to it, and it splits them 4-8 ways. Also I ran a #6 ground and have a ground bar and ground wires to insure/help with future issues. Have 1 fused light in fuse area direct from batt!

The guy who delivered my solar panels showed me the fuse panel in his freightliner.  It is a modular block and the same style as the rebel wire harness I'm putting in my 56.  This might be an easier and cleaner solution.
