To answer some of your questions it helps! If you don't have bus just put looking or bus type of intrest. Location ; there might be a member right around the block. Or the answers vary for a differant part of the country.  I for one hesitate to answer someone who is not willing to share basic info.  Bob

Yeah Bob, You would think that's what profile page is for.

Actually, Bob's request is very good and an often-needed reminder.  Bob posts that request periodically, Russ Long posts it sometimes, and I've posted it once or twice.  In fact, I actually consider it good manners to tell us a little about yourself -- what kind of coach and where you're located -- especially when asking for help.

When someone asks a question, asks for help, or whatever, most of us probably aren't going to go to their profile page, Google them, run a Dunn and Bradstreet on them, hire a private investigator, or otherwise expend unnecessary effort.  In some cases, when I've been able to answer a question, and the person has dropped enough clues that they're in my State, I've had to ask where.  If the individual may be nearby, there's the possiblilty of offering help in person.  That said, I have first gone to the "profile page", only to find no information there, either.  So, I have already had to take two, entirely unnecessary steps -- just to offer help.

Now, that's only in cases where I really thought I might be of assistance.  If I just suspect I may be able to help, I think it's not appropriate to force me to go through a bunch of extra steps -- so I won't do it.

For example "I have a bus, it's broken -- what do I do"?  The answer from here will probably be "nothing", because we don't know what type of bus, what's broken, where you are, etc.  It's the exceptional people that will take the several extra steps "what kind of bus?"  "what's broken", "where are you"  (Answers "A yellow one, it won't go, in my driveway.")

We can rebuild worn out commercial machinery and turn it into a custom hobby camper...

But don't go asking us to figure out how to make a profile on this BBS!!!

Guys, click on the word "profile" up there, or click on your own name on a thread.

Over there on the left, click forum profile, and then add away into the blanks.

Down below is something that will say "save" or something like that. be sure to click it.

And if you don't have a "safe e-mail account" for spreading all over the internet forums, get one.

Maybe to become a BCM site member make it required to at least provide full name, state and bus type. All other information would be optional. Then again some people don't really want to associate with people, they just want information and nothing else.

at least have options for choice, as some people are fulltimers and traveling, and some are always in a 'different' state of mind. ;D

In this day and age, the less folks know, the better.

Count yourself lucky if you don't know what this means from a personal experience standpoint.

The bus boards DIE just as soon as you restrict new members. They just won't join. period.

Those of us who warmed up to these places, did so once we found there was a community.

Lots and lots of the internet is NOT a community. Quite the opposite.

They will add details as they find this place can be trusted, and the benefit to do so becomes apparent.

Just as we all did.

OK, I updated my info on the profile at the bottom of the page. This should give a better idea of who and what. I think it is interesting to know what people do other than tinker on their coach.

Fraser, that's great -- a perfect example.  For others, see how easy it'd now be to answer any question Fraser might have about his bus?  We know instantly what it is, what it has --- and, if one of us is in the area, we could even offer to stop by and lend a hand.  We also know not to refer him to some repair shop in Florida or New Brunswick -- saving everyone time and effort.

As you can see on mine, the basics are there at the bottom, but since we fulltime i just say the western states. If i have a problem i usually include the bus info and the current location in the post so people don't wonder what, and where, while they are reading it. :)
