Hello!
Our bus is broke down in central, florida.
We may be forced because of time to look at getting something else.
Does anyone know of any converted coaches with at least four bunks and a rear master bedroom?
Thanks in advance!

with that number of bunks you will probably have to go with an entertainer bus. good luck.
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

Two reputable places that have them:  Goodson Bus Sales in NC; and Staley Coach in TN.  Lots of others on the net too, but those two guys are honest brokers.

Might also try Horizon Coach in Arcadia, FL.

Nice folk, who also have been a sponsor of the big winter rally over New Year's.

Here's one listed on Ebay right now. I checked it out & can tell you it is very clean concerning rust. It will need a little updating on the interior. If you message the owner he will talk with you on the phone. His name is Randy Worth. It has the bunks you need & the back lounge can easily be turned into a bedroom. You can see a few more pictures I took by going to the Eagles Intl. board & check in the eagle Mall section.

Its a sad day when a running converted coach becomes a cheaper alternative to fixing the engine in the one we have. But that kind of is the reality today. Before I would blow $10K on a motor I would sure look around, there are a lot of deals out there, and more and cheaper by the day.

You said it Paul. The broken bus could be parted out & scrapped to net $4-5000. Pick up a new unit & be riding in no time. Changing out an engine with a hopeful good runner could be iffy & time consuming.

I would highly recommend you fix the engine on the bus you have.  While getting another bus may seem like a good idea rather than spending the money on your present bus, remember you'll be getting someone else's problems-that you don't know-and having to spend money to fix them.  Get your engine fixed-rebuilt if necessary and keep your bus that you know now inside and out.  Either way you go you're going to spend money-I just believe it will ultimately be less money on the bus you already have now.  Bring all systems up to date-including having new a new radiator made.

I have a converted to turbo 8V-71-which was done by Don Fairchild almost 6 years ago.  I just had new injectors installed and it runs great.  The 8V-71 is a very tough engine-it just doesn't like to be overheated.  My slow down or pull to the side of the road is 200 degrees.  I also have misters (first had 15. Now have 13 of the original and drilled two out to 1/16"-now it really cools and puts out the water).  I have the largest radiator possible, and while I don't like the misters, it keeps me running when the temps are over 90 degrees.  Good Luck, TomC

Whether you decide to rebuild or replace,I would strongly urge you to consider an auto overtemp shut down....mine has a warning light that says PULL OFF NOW....and yes it has shut me down, but it sure beats the alternative.

Just like anything else there are a lot of opinions. Really, much depends on financial resources. If a $15K engine is going to hurt you, looking at another Bus is not a bad decision. And a lot depends too, on what that $15K engine is going into. Is the Bus worth $15K with a new engine?

In the last few years we have seen a literal crash in Bus values, and the last year especially has seen an accelerated plummet. Two years ago $15K didnt buy much. A year ago it bought a little more. Today that same $15K can buy you a Bus that was selling for over $75K a few years ago.

Some of us are in this for pleasure, some are in this for an alternative, others are in it out of need and necessity. Pouring money into an old Bus that isnt ever going to be worth much more than scrap is no different than the guy who loves old sail boats. But if its your families home and workplace, pleasure and passion need to step back from reality.

Before I would commit $15K to my Bus I would look around and see what else is available. A new $15K engine in my Bus would be throwing $15K away. It wouldnt make it worth a dime more to anyone. I could scrap it for $3-4K and with that $15K for an engine go look for a better deal. And that Alaska trip? If I blow the motor up there and find I need a new one, we'll likely just go home in the towed and say goodbye Bus. As much as I like these Buses, they are only tools. There is no need to get so passionate about them they cost us more than their worth. The fuel cost is bad enough.
