Found a pair a few hours away for $150. Good Year 315 80R22.5

Trying to decide if I should take the 30mpg CRV or the 15mpg van. The bald tires on my bus are about 42" diameter and the opening in the back of the CRV is 43". Not sure if the tires would fit with full tread. One could go on the roof. Anyone have any experience with this vehicle and big tires?
Thanks-

Consider the money saved as an incentive to take the van. I just brought 4 home myself (on a car trailer). Big, heavy, and a pain in the you know what. :D I wouldn't even consider the CRV!!

If you can get that tire on the roof of your CRV without lots of help, make sure and let us know, so that I know never ever to say anything antagonistic to you ever.  +1 for the van.

I do like challenges, but the van it is.

My Lady Friend drives a CRV and let me tell you, (from personal experience) there is a lot of soft plastic stuff in the back of the car that would NOT survive having bus tires loaded.  HB of CJ (old coot) :(

Not inside, but the CRV could pull a small utility trailer.

I carried a bus wheel & tyre in the trunk of my Lexus 400 once (with the trunk lid open). No problem fitting it in, and I'd do it again - only problem was physically lifting the thing to get it in there.

A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.

Nate, just curious but will you be changing the tires yourself, or having them done for you?
If doing it you self, it will be labor intensive as it is, I try to make the transport as easy on the back as I can. Jus sayin ;) good luck! :)
