Trip to Whitefish Mt

Greetings all:  I normally leave for Bozeman Montana, to do a little skiing, but the snow fall has not been great and thinking about going to Whitefish and skiing Big Mountain, as they have a bunch of snow.  Now I leave from Stillwater Mn, and normally get on 94 to 90 and after a 1000 miles I am there.  Whitefish is 200 miles further and you leave 94 and get on 200 to Interstate 15 up to 2 and over to Whitefish.  So if anyone is on the route, give me a shout and maybe have coffee etc, but equally as important, other than Marias pass any concerns about the route?

Route will work but was wondering why not get on 2 earlier.

I would go to 90 to Missoula and up 93 to Kalispell to Whitefish.

I would also look at 90 to Missoula and then 93.   2 goes across the wind blown plains past Browning, then across the bottom of Glacier Park.  If your gonna hit snow, Hwy 2 is the most likely place for it.
This year has been light on snow, at least for now.

Opus and John squared, thanks for the replies:  I have actually bicycled across 2, so I have first hand knowledge about the wind, and I also know it probably has the most snow.
90 all the way to Missoula and then 93 adds a lot of miles.  I may take 200 across to avoid some of the wind and snow.  I really, really, want Bozeman to get more snow, to make for the easiest drive and least time.  Also between Bozeman and Butte there are  some hills which might make my little 6V92 breath hard:)

Just make Bozeman work, look at the trouble it would save you.

I was born in Havre and have lived in Stanford. You won't get away form snow and wind on this road.

Better yet, Red Lodge has a lot of snow this year.

Yeah, Red Lodge would be worth looking at.  They got snow early this season.  Usually arrives in late winter.  jm

Guys, good idea on Red Lodge, I have skied their before, but I do not know where I would park my Bus.  The campground a Laurel is a ways a way, and to put it mildly, the campground sucks. (or at least it did 4 years ago) Any ideas on Bus parking?
