We  have not been able to log into BNO for months also.  Repeated emails to the moderator come back as undeliverable.  Any suggestions?

I've tried to create an account there about 3 months ago and was never able to.  Never received an email and my username/password that I used to create the account never worked.

You're not missing anything.  If its worth discussing it gets discussed here in more detail by more people.

Not trying to start a war here, I wish the between boards bashing would end.
Both have their purpose and unique users.

BNO has been working fine for me.

I like going over there also. There are some really knowledgeable guys over there that only use that forum. I've got some real good help over there.

IAN may eventually respond to this.  He has in the past.  IAN has to manually approve all accounts due to the number of bogus accounts spammers try to create.  My understanding is he gets dozens or hundreds of bogus account requests for each legitimate account request.  Sometimes the legitimate account requests get overlooked due to the volume or he can't tell if your account is legitimate based on your username.

When I started on BNO you didn't even need to have an account to post.  Later an account was required to post, but accounts were automatic.  IAN finally had to start reviewing all account requests due to spammers.

I've not had any problems either. Might just have to wait for I@n to work his magic. ;)

Don_and_cary, check you're email. You're good to go.

Outsider (Seangie), you registered correctly but have never used the account. Log back in, use the password 123456 then change it to something else, and start participating, if you wish.

bobofthenorth, still love me, I see. Me too you, buddy *kiss*

Oldmansax (Tom), you registered correctly and have left 9 messages so far. Log back in, use the password 123456 then change it to something else, and start participating again, if you wish.

Jack, we're the Ford in your equation (read between the lines!) Thank you  ;-)

Thank you Gary & Andy.

Brian, pretty good explanation, my friend. BNO BBS is 11 years old (since December, 2000) and I'm in dire need of a new one because the current one no longer offers tech support. I'll be purchasing a new one, eventually, and have someone in the wings who will pick up the entire bbs and archive it into a searchable document. Stay tuned!

Magic, Paul! Yes, sometimes it is, eh? You know  :-)

Mex_busnut (Dr. Steven), you successfully registered on June 15 but never responded to the email to activate the account. Log in. I have given you the temporary password of 123456. Change it to something else, and start participating, if you wish. Take an Aspirin and call me in the morning!!

As usual, my sincere thanks to the moderators for their forbearance in allowing this thread. Thanks guys.

Thanks folks. Have a great weekend, all.

Ian

Bob,
We are all entitled to our opinions. Personally, I enjoy both boards and find helpful, useful information on both of them.  All though many cross post to both boards, some only post on one, so using both insures that I get all the information.  The boards do have different "personalites" just like people, and that is what keeps life interesting.   Jack

I can attest to that. 2 years ago I started a forum devoted to the boats built by Outboard Marine from '63 to '71. It started out ok but then I began getting spam registrations from Eastern Europe. I had to institute the manual approval policy. I'd have hundreds of them. I finally had to place a post advising that a new member had to send a direct email to me telling me what username they'd registered with - then I'd go approve it.
What I don't get is... what do these spammers gain from all that work?

belfert

Spammers try to register so they can post their ads to sell crap.  The cost of labor must be low enough they can spend all day doing this.  I see these spammer ads all the time on news sites that allow comments and don't have tight controls on who can post.
