Yup, and the one with slides has a "reconditioned" engine. I am glad, because otherwise I would say pass on this one ;D. Just kidding.

Being a noob, have some patience with me.

I have been talking with the seller on the bus in Columbus.  What I am needing help with is if someone knows a good mechanic in the Columbus OH area where I can pay to get it inspected?

Would also be interested if anyone knows any specifics about the coach.

Finally, who is Sam Walker?

Finally, who is Sam Walker?

I had the same exact question when I joined. Others here with personal experience will send you a Private Message no doubt. I am honestly not sure if this is a Sam Walker coach, but others here will know for sure. So here's a free bump, and a welcome to the club from one newb to another :)

So I cold called a place near Columbus to get an inspection done and the owner already knew the bus.  Said it had pretty bad mold problems and the genset was not working.  Does that qualify as 'Sam Walker?'

Guess I am back to looking for another coach.  Help is always appreciated.

Because I have no personal knowledge, and because the rules (as shown above in the header) do not permit "bad mouthing of any business or individual," I'll say this:

Sam Walker is a fellow who has sold a few buses over the years.

Caveat emptor always applies when procuring a bus.

Google searches may provide detailed commentary about Mr. Walker and some of his business transactions.

you might want to check out the country coach eagle listed on ebay and talked aobut on another thread here.  Don't know your price range, but it looked pretty good on ebay site.

Not meaning to keep this thread lingering, but I now understand 'Sam Walker.'  It was an easy search.  Some interesting reading.

If I am allowed, I can post details of what we are looking for in a new thread (I am not sure of the rules yet on WTB).  However, the Eagle on Ebay would not suit our needs because we really need something that sleeps 6 (we have an army of kids and need to upgrade to a large coach - would really like bunks but ...).  Kinds of need a combination of an RV and entertainer coach.

How much of your own work are you interested in putting into the coach? If you're merely wanting to find the right coach and not have to make any floorplan changes to it, then your search might take a little longer, but if you're willing to make some changes, then keep your eye out on Craigslist. I have spent a couple of years browsing Craigslist ads for MCI's etc. I bought ours without a single problem and a rebuilt 92 series and Allison tranny for $7000. It was an excellent price. Of course we had to convert it. But since then, I have found more than one coach similar to ours for $5000 to $7000 ready to convert, and some in the $7000 range converted and just needing some updating/renovations. If you're looking for a turn-key ready coach, Craigslist is a good bet too. If you start a thread asking what you might want to look for when you find a coach (initial self-inspection) the gentlemen on this forum will help you look for trouble-spots etc. They know their stuff.  :)

If you have $10K plus, plus travel money, plus a nest egg for extras to get whatever you find back home, you can expand your search nationally. There are buses popping up all over the nation that people post here, often figuratively for peanuts. And the nice thing is, often someone here will know the coach, and/or can steer you to the right shop where you can recieve quality service and advice at reasonable cost. Seriously, there have been some Buses posted the last month or two, that if I didnt have a Bus, and had had the money, I would have bought sight unseen.

If I could offer any other advice, it would be to ask as many dumb or stupid questions here as you can think of. Youll learn a lot, no one will laugh, and everyone else learns too. Second would be to have great patience, learn as much as you can, and bounce whatever you find off these guys first. Buses didnt sell well when we were booming, today youll likely be stuck with whatever you buy for quite a while, or suffer great loss, so its imperitive you find a good one. The conversion work is secondary to the Bus shell and Bus mechanical/electrical driveline...., if the Bus supporting the conversion isnt any good, you have nothing.
