Looking into buying some AGM Batteris and want some opinions on brands.
Also I can use an 8D size or a maybe a 30HT, any reason not to go with the 8D besides weight?  I view it as way fewer connections to make bu requiring 2 people to tote.  Looking to build about a 750Ah 12v system.  Any other opinion?

It is more connections but look at the big 6-V "golf cart" sized batteries.  They're about half the weight of an 8D but two of them gives you almost the same A/h with about a 25% smaller footprint (but 1 - 1 1/2" taller).  I don't know what the price would be for 6 versus three 8D's.

You shop and you can buy 8 D's in the Lifeline for around 600 bucks each you get more bang for the buck with flooded cell golf cart batteries I look at cost per amp hour over $2 for the AGM and less than a buck per amp hr for golf cart that is a lot of water

good luck

The reason I am looking at AGM batteries is I have a transit and have better options for having them inside.

I have 8 each 8D East Penn Deka batteries.   Doing well.

Sometimes you can get good deals on AGM's that have been changed out of UPS systems with plenty of life left.  Check Craigslist.

I currently have 2-8D Lifeline 255amp/hr batteries for 510amp/hr total. On my truck I am still going to use Lifeline batteries, but am graduating up to using 4-L16 6v batteries at 400amp/hr each.  2 wired in series to make 12v and the two pair wired in parrallel for 800amp/hr service.  I have a truck driver friend that installed 2 of the L16 batteries on their side in the side saddle compartment on his big rig, and simply loves the batteries.  Good Luck, TomC
