I was doing a Google search for "MCI" and found this return ... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mci+bus

Is this a Dave we've seen on this or the old board???

I went through and read his site and wondered if MAK has had any discussion with him about the webpage?

If this is old news -- Sorry.

Oh yeah, he's well known on the other board. That's about all I'll say.  He seems to have a problem with authority and common sense.

If I were Mike, I'd have a lawyer all over that for liable and slander, but I'm sure we don't have all the details.  ::)

Guys and Gals, remember:

you can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.

That is what happens here on this board between members, between members and moderators and is prevalent in most any business.

Personally, I have known Mike since the early 80's when his shop was in Long Beach and I was looking for my first bus. In all my dealings with him, his employees and with anyone I met who have done business with him, he was always up front and completely honest as far as I have ever known.

In my life as a self-employed professional, I occasionaly run into one of those "PITA people." We all have met folks like that. I've learned how to smell them a mile away, and always steer clear.... find a way to be "over-commited" or "just too busy" until 2010.

I do think an Internet BBS is the wrong venue for any kind of conjecture or commentary when we don't know all of the facts.

A BBB link that has less than a handful of complaints to me does not show pattern. What about the 100's of positive experiences?! Same with any vendor's eBay sales/ feedback ratings or in other ventures... as Richard said, not everyone is going to walk away satisfied, no matter what you do.

I'll bet even St. Luke (of US Coach) has had someone speak poorly of him or his shop. I've never met one... but I'm sure they're out there. But us busnuts know. And we know better. Eh?

MAK? We know. We know better.

Well, my opinion is that if you read & RE-READ all the stuff on that website & links, you will probably see a pattern that emerges & that pattern was enough for me to decide who was who & what was what.

If you believe all of the sensational stuff that is published . . .

Amazing how you can have 1000 happy customers who don't know the BBB exists & a few PITA that have the BBB on speed dial. Kind of makes you wonder what those customers really wanted.

Uh hows that old saying go? You can please some of the people all the time, & all the people some of the time, but you can never please all the people all the time! And on top of that I remember one Mr. David Lejung Madison being quite a nuisance on the other board at one time because he did not like the answers he asked for! SO he kept blowing people crap and asking & and asking, and asking the same question over and over hoping somebody, anybody or even A NOBODY would agree with him (didn't happen) !

Now as far as all the crap he says about MAK, well that's between the two of them and shouldn't be aired publicly. But that just shows ya what kinda fellow yer listening too!

I've looked at buying several buses from MAK, however after checking them out, decided not to buy them. Hey no problem, MAK is not advertising trouble free buses with lifetime warranties (as one would assume if they believe all that Mr. Madison says) .  And last time I was dealing with him, he didn't hold a gun to my head and force me to buy the bus, we just parted ways! Now will I keep looking at what MAK advertises? Yes because someday he may have just what I'm looking for at the right price! As for Mr. Madison he should have done more homework before tackling something he knew knothing about, or he should have paid a 3rd party expert on buses to inspect the bus and oversee the deal! But as I see it he's a mouse with a big mouth, wishing he were a man with big cahones! Which is why h goes around slandering MAK for his lack of doing his homework before getting bid happy on ebay!

That's probably more than my 2 cents worth, but it's my honest opinion! If ya want a "NEW BUS, with A NEW BUS WARRANTY" go out and spend $300,000.00 + on a NEW SHELL! Don't spent less than $20, 000.00 on the Eplace and expect it to be as good as new or warratied like a new one! BK  ;D

LIkewise with our family and the purchase of a Moose Creek Motorcabin. Which is why I help out with the BBS ( in addition to being able to help out with our fine community of bus nuts.   ;D )

Hmm, I just clicked on the BBB link on that site:
www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=100011245]=http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=100011245]www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=100011245
and it has some interesting information.

As far as the BBB ... you guys might have a different opinion of them, but on some points, they're up there with Consumer Reports (which I don't always hold in high regard, but that's just me).  On this Calif. BBB, I think their ratings (AAA thru F) are NOT in alignment with comments under the company report.  Curious if the 3 complaints are from the same person.  I just think their whole rating system sucks (but that's juct me).

I think "issues" and "complaints", like many things, can all be traced back to "expectations".  Not having the right knowledge about something you are about to purchase or embark on could very well set you up for unreasonable expectations.  Buying a bus is certainly no different and if anything ... could be the poster (child) example of why you better have some knowledge and reasonable expectations.  Like someone else said, you seek "new" and near perfect ... open up your wallet and buy a new shell.

As a business owner, I would be on the phone to my attorney getting that website modified pronto!!

Just thought I'd add this.
I bought my 4501 on impulse because I fell in love with the look & I didn't care a damn 1 about having it checked by a mechanic. It is a Scenicruiser, what else matters?
I then called MAK asking for back issues that featured 4501's & they put me thru to Mike his-self! He recgonized my blind enthusiam & gave me great advice & encouragement while opening my eyes to what lay ahead. & That has helped me more than anything else.

That seems to be the kind of guy Mike really is, a true busnut. The kind of guy that has my respect. I can't fathom the same guy that helped me would intentionally mislead another busnut.

That's the way I see it.

Thanks Mike!
