Hey Guys,

Getting ready for my first DIY service on the '06 and I do not know much about this Air Dryer. Anybody seen one of these before? If you have how about a part or model number to give me somewhere to start. Any service tips would be much appreciated as well.

Thanks

That is a Bendix AD 2 remove the 3 bolts on the bottom, remove the snap ring (has slots on the housing to pop it out) on the bottom pull the purge and heater assembly out, unscrew dissident filter that is about all there is to it and to replace the purge valve it unscrews from the base. Watch that snap ring that sucker will put the hurt on you when installing

good luck

I usually mark date when I rehab something then you know when you last did service. Magic marker on item. or someone else will know if it's not you.

Before you start you might want to download the following service data sheet from bendix  :)

Good luck with your air dryer.  I do not mean to hijack your post..however I am seeing in your pic to the left your bus has some nice strips on it.  Could you post a larger pic for us.  I am thinking about adding some strips and am looking for ideas.  Thanks...again sorry for the hijack.

A couple of photos are the least I can do for all the help I have gotten here. Here is a shot of the '06 as it emerged from a long hibernation.....best of luck with your design.

I found it easy to use a bottle jack to push up on the purge valve to release the tention on the snapring. Same for installing it.

Wow, that is one well preserved air drier!

Make sure you have the rebuild kits and desiccant in hand before you take it apart.

Run through the tests for the heater element, and if it is not equipped, retrofit one.

Some places may have to order them in.

happy coaching!
