Medical required for CDL renewal in VA?

Thanks everyone for your input.
My wife didn't want to go through the trouble of renewing her CDL - but I didn't want her to give it up.  It turns out that there was less hassle than anticipated and almost no lines at DMV.  So now we are both happy.

CDLs are US licenses even though they are issued by the states. The medical is a US requirement, not a state. The requirements are the same everywhere.
