Fast idle speed adjustment?

so, having found my skinner  valves in my parts manual, the next page is the fast idle cylinder.  so I am looking at it and there is no place that I can see to adjust the fast idle speed.  It is part of the buffer switch, and we know that the buffer switch is adjusted to slightly increase idle speed by 15 - 20 rpm.  the fast idle switch seems to basically stick the buffer thingy out a little farther, thereby increasing the idle speed a lot.  But I see no way to adjust the amount it sticks out, so thereby adjusting the amount of extra idle speed.

So i look in the manual, both the governor section and the fast idle section, and just for the heck of it the Jake brake fast idle buffer switch section.  There is nothing that I can see about adjusting, but a stern warning in the jake brake section to not adjust the buffer switch without the buffer switch adjusting gage.  But that is not the fast idle part of the deal, just the buffer switch.

Now, the reason I ask is that in a recent thread Clifford said that he adjusts the fast idle speed differently depending on if the coach has the OTR AC or not, and sets it to different speeds.  How?

Not all things are in the book huh Brian lol I'll send you a PM later and tell you how to adjust it
I don't like getting into fast idle , Jake's or governor adjustments here on the board if the guys are going to blow one up they are going to do it by themselves with no help from me lol.
I believe when you set back and take a good look at the fast idle and how it works you will figure it out on your own it is pretty simple

good luck

If you look at it closely it's pretty obvious how to adjust it, but the issue is like Clifford says...adjusting it without going "boom". Could be an easy way to find out just how fast a DD will spin before it starts launching parts.
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

natural selection is a beautiful thing.

And the internet weeds them out even faster.

Good on you, luvrbus!

happy coaching!
